Build a list..
New to HungarianLibrarian:
Build a list..
Calling all Children’s Services Librarians, book sellers, teachers, parents and anyone familiar with leading circle time, storytelling on a reading rug or who has ever been a child..
HungarianLibrarian will soon be building a page to serve as a dynamic, ever-growing list of themed picture books. What do children in your life like to hear read aloud? What are your favorite books to read? If successful (you know you want to play with me) HungarianLibrarian will aggregate themed lists from Build a list.. once a week and build an archive called BookLook. You can use BookLook as you personal resource for planning your next themed storytime. Eventually, HL would like to see this resource expand to pages for Picture Books, Favorite Fables, Fairytales, From the Spinner Rack, Middle School Lit, Fantasy Fiction, Reader’s Advisory and more!
Since we have only just begun, Build a list.. will initially appear much more often so that we can collect enough to create a small but interesting resource. Today’s theme is…
DOGS
I’ll start. Here are some of my favorite picture books about dogs:
We Honestly Can Look After Your Dog
Officer Buckle and Gloria
Dogzilla
Move Over Rover
Dogs Don’t Wear Sneakers
Good Boy Fergus
Walter the Farting Dog
Harry the Dirty Dog
Now remember–and this is totally subjective–please make sure that your Build a list.. entry has ‘an aboutness’ of DOGS. No sneaking in a picture book about CATS that has one poodle on page 21. : ) No Easy Readers (sorry Henry and Mudge) but McDuff’s Wild Romp would be great!
Once HungarianLibrarian has a few themed lists, you can log to her blog and peek in a page for lists of our favorite picture book titles. Why not post one now?

I will use your site for my storytelling very small business.
I love cats and though about adding Go Dog Go, but you said no easy readers. There are dogs in Aesop’s fables: The Donkey and the Lapdag, The Troublesome Dog, The Dog in the Manger, The Wolf and the House Dog, The Gardner and His Dog, The Dog and the Bone…
