The Big Move

As many of you know, I finally got The Letter in December that I passed my SJSU e-portfolio and my diploma would be forthcoming.  Just after Christmas I found a buyer for my home and we spent the better part of January sorting, tossing, donating, boxing, bubble-wrapping and moving.  At the end of February, most of the boxes have either been unpacked or moved to storage; however, there still remains a fair amount of cardboard cubes triaged in the hall and closets.  Funny thing.  You never realize the true essentials until you’ve moved an entire house.  The china was repacked and stored and the giant pancake whisk was cherished and used immediately.  Living without Internet at home was tramatic–as much to my teen as to myself–and we were so thankful when the lost phone cord turned up in box 108.  The cats are still sulking but adjusting.

Today I gave a booktalk on The Invention of Hugo Cabret using the physical book to tell the story, a break from the traditional voice-only commercial technique.  Has anyone else tried this?  Let’s hear from you if you have been storytelling or leading storytimes with exciting, new ideas and techniques.  I’m ready for spring, sun and new life!  What’s new in your pond?
