HungarianLibrarian took a summer vacation and came back to a full plate, ending sunny activities and transitioning to fall. Now that things are back to a regular if bustling routine, there’s so much to discuss! My apologies to Sarah Lee and all of you storytellers who have checked the site. I’m going to commit to checking it once a week and posting resources I think everyone will enjoy! If you have a topic that needs research or need a quick tip, feel free to post off topic. A couple of good juvenile books I’ve consumed: The New Policeman by Kate Thompson and The Dark is Rising (2nd book in The Dark is Rising Series) by Susan Cooper. Watch for the big release of Cooper’s book October 5 in theater’s near year; the movie’s title: The Seeker: The Dark is Rising. I’m betting this becomes the next “Harry Potter” adventure. Let’s wait and see!

Take A Fun Quiz!

I’ve been reading fairytales today and stopped for a quick peek a some of the blogs I find interesting. Many contain quizzes that, while not particularly scientifically based, are amazingly satisfying when choosing between a final assignment homework project, reference desk computer freeze problems or trolling blogs for random fun. In the fairytale theme, I, for instance, might never have known what sort of mythological beast I would be, given the opportunity. Books and Babies

HungarianLibrarian would like to thank Short Man’s Room for posting HL in his Blogroll, the first time HL has seen such an honor. Blogger Marc is expecting his first child in five months and today wonders what books he “should” buy for his new arrival despite having vast experience working in bookstores. HL applauds him for recognizing that board books are as essential to newborns as mother’s milk. Kudos! Since babies seem to be popping up in the blogesphere like daisies today (hello Emily!), to prepare their new parents for what parenting is *really* like, Hungarian Librarian dedicates today’s Songspotto baby Horton (and the future mischief he/she will bring to Marc’s life.) Remember, if you happen to be a subscriber to whom the grocery store diaper aisle is a gloriously absent alleyway, you can STOP THE NOISE (or just tune it wwaayy down) by scrolling down this page, looking to the lower right of the page and punching the circle to pause the country music or moving the volume control bar.
